A commercial robotic mower is a self-driving mower that cuts mapped turf on a schedule while a crew member supervises nearby. Service Robot Co. leases landscaping contractors the right one for their client properties on a 3-year lease with a $1 buyout, then deploys it, trains the crew and services it. The contract stays yours.
Contracts stay yours. We lease the robot.
You already hold the mowing contracts. Keep them. The client, the contract and the revenue stay with you. We pick the right commercial robotic mower for your properties and lease it to you. Your crew moves off the open-turf passes and onto the work clients see.
How does a commercial robotic mower work?
Four parts make a commercial autonomous mower work on a client site.
RTK GPS navigation
An RTK robotic mower corrects its satellite position against a fixed reference, so it can hold straight stripes and stay inside mapped edges without a boundary wire.
A map of each property
Each client site is mapped once: mowing zones, no-go areas, paths between zones. The map gets refined in the first weeks as the crew learns the site.
A charging dock
The mower runs its zones, returns to charge and goes again. Some sites get a dock. Others work best with the mower charged at your shop between visits.
A person nearby
Commercial robotic mowers are supervised. A crew member works the same site, clears what the mower asks about and handles the trim and detail work.
At a glance
| Navigation | RTK-corrected GPS. Some machines add cameras or sensors for obstacles. |
|---|---|
| Setup per site | Map the zones and no-go areas once, then refine. |
| Power | A charging dock on site, or charging at your shop. |
| Supervision | A crew member on the same property. |
| Best ground | Large, open, repetitive turf with a clear view of the sky. |
| Hard ground | Heavy tree canopy, steep slopes, tight beds, narrow gates. |
| How you get one | A 3-year lease with a $1 buyout, quoted after a free site assessment. |
Which client properties fit a robotic mower?
Open, repetitive turf with a clear sky fits. Shade, steep ground and tight detail do not.
Good fits
- Office parks, campuses and HOA common areas with open lawn
- Sports fields, parks and municipal grounds
- Solar sites and long open strips
- Large commercial lawns you mow on the same schedule every week
Poor fits
- Small residential lots a crew finishes in under an hour
- Sites under heavy tree canopy or tall buildings that block the sky
- Steep banks and slopes beyond what the machine is rated for
- Grounds that are mostly beds, ornamentals and tight corners
Robotic mowers on open turf

Running robots across many client sites
Pick the sites that fit
Start with the contracts that have the most open turf. Leave the tight, ornamental properties on your current equipment.
Map each property once
We map the zones, no-go areas and dock spot for each client site, and adjust the map with your crew after the first mows.
Move the mower with the crew
Where a site has no dock, the mower travels on your trailer like any other machine and mows while the crew trims and edges.
Put people on the detail
Trimming, edging, beds, cleanup and client walk-throughs stay with your crew. Those are the hours a client notices.
Mow off-hours where allowed
If the machine, the site and your client agree, a docked mower can run early, late or overnight. We set the schedule with you.
What to check before choosing any mower
The best commercial robotic lawn mower is the one that fits your properties. Check these on every site. Contractors and reviewers say the same things.
- Site fit
- Open turf is where a robotic mower earns its keep. Obstacles, beds and gates slow it down.
“optimized for wide, relatively simple expanses”
MowScout, on one commercial stand-on mower - Sky view for RTK
- Walk every zone and look up. Satellite guidance needs open sky.
“Heavy tree canopy, tall building shadow ... degrade the RTK fix”
MowScout, on a satellite-guided commercial mower - Supervision
- Plan for a person on the property. The mower stops and asks for help on what it cannot clear.
“it expects a crew nearby”
MowScout, on one commercial stand-on mower - Mapping time
- Budget time for the first maps of each property and expect to redo some.
“We seem to map properties several times before we get a good workflow.”
Timber Toste, Mow Bot Ltd, quoted by NALP - Charging and shop power
- Check where each mower charges and whether your shop can carry more chargers as you add machines.
“not every shop has the electrical capacity to expand”
Timber Toste, Mow Bot Ltd, quoted by NALP - Slopes
- Check the steepest zone on every property against what the machine handles on its own.
“in autonomous mode, if you put your boundaries on slopes, the mower may struggle”
Greenzie's own docs, April 2023 - Theft
- Plan where the mower sits overnight on each site, how it is locked down and how you would find it if it walked.
- Support
- Ask who answers when the mower stops at 6 a.m. on a client site, and how fast someone can be there.
How the lease works with us
One team from the first site walk to the service call. The price comes after the assessment, not before.
01
Assess
A free site assessment of the properties you want to move first. We look at turf, slopes, sky view, power and storage, and tell you if none of them fit yet.
02
Lease
We pick the right machine for your properties and quote a 3-year lease with a $1 buyout at the end. You see the number before you commit.
03
Deploy and train
We map each site, set the zones and no-go areas, place the docks and train your crew to run and supervise the mower.
04
Service
One number when something stops. 24/7 support with 10-minute specialist triage, regional service engineers in every state we service, three check visits a year and a 12-month warranty.

Who this is NOT for
Robots fit some landscaping books and not others. We will tell you which yours is before you sign anything.
Mostly small residential routes
If your book is short stops on small lots, the setup time per property will not pay back. Robots need repeat acreage.
Shaded, wooded or steep portfolios
If most of your sites sit under trees or on steep ground, a satellite-guided mower will struggle. We will say so at the assessment.
Crews with no one to supervise
A commercial robotic mower still needs a person on site. If every crew member is already stretched across other sites, plan that first.
