Multivendor Cleaning Fleets: What SoftBank's Launch Signals

SoftBank Robotics America's March 2026 launch bundles Gausium cleaning robots with deployment services. What a managed fleet means for your facility.

Key takeaways

  • SoftBank Robotics America announced on March 4, 2026 a managed offer built around three Gausium cleaning robots: Omnie, V40 2.0 and Phantas 1.3.
  • The lineup splits work by space: Omnie for large dynamic sites, V40 2.0 for medium to large indoor areas, Phantas 1.3 for small to medium spaces.
  • Trade coverage places hardware with Gausium and deployment, training and lifecycle support with SBRA, a split you should confirm in writing.
  • Uptime and localization gains are vendor claims. Ask for planned versus actual run time and the autonomous share of that run time.
  • One provider simplifies service, but it also concentrates dependence on one maker's line.

What SoftBank's March 2026 launch actually offers

On March 4, 2026, SoftBank Robotics America (SBRA) announced three commercial cleaning robots built by Gausium: Omnie, V40 2.0 and Phantas 1.3. The company said they are sold within a managed automation approach that pairs robot hardware with deployment services and operational oversight for enterprise customers.

The signal sits in the packaging. A single provider now offers several floor robot models, each matched to a different kind of space, behind one set of deployment and service commitments. That is a clear bet that facility teams would rather manage one accountable relationship than a stack of separate vendor contracts.

For a facility team, the question is not only which robot cleans best. It is who sizes the fleet, installs it, trains the crew and answers the phone at 3 a.m. when a unit stops in an aisle.

Which robot covers which kind of floor?

SBRA's three models divide the work by space size and cleaning task, according to the launch release and the company's product pages.

  • Omnie scrubs large, dynamic spaces. SBRA describes it as built for high traffic sites such as airports and retail.
  • V40 2.0 vacuums medium to large indoor areas and uses LiDAR and 3D sensing to identify floor types and switch cleaning modes.
  • Phantas 1.3 sweeps and lightly scrubs small to medium indoor spaces, with a slim profile for cleaning under tables and along edges.

Who does what when several makers sit behind one contract?

Trade coverage describes SBRA as a robot integrator or orchestrator. It supplies deployment expertise, customer training, lifecycle support and integration, while Gausium supplies the hardware and core intelligence. That split comes from an aggregator analysis, not from the company's own wording, so confirm it in writing before you sign anything.

The two companies have worked together for some time. Gausium awarded SBRA its Platinum Service Elite certification, reported in January 2025. The criteria Gausium cited were at least 100 Gausium robots deployed across a single enterprise account and at least 30 robots at a single site. The same reporting describes at least three weeks of onsite training plus e-learning and graded performance. Those figures are as stated by Gausium, not an independent audit.

Is the labor argument backed by anything measurable?

SBRA says many market factors are shrinking the workforce pool for service operations roles, and it frames the expansion as a response. SBRA SVP Revenue Operations Mark Stoll said the offer is about outcomes, not just robots. VP Product Kate Kidd pointed to higher uptime and better localization as benefits.

Those are vendor claims, and the launch materials we reviewed gave no pricing, lease terms or fleet counts for the March lineup. The most concrete number in the coverage belongs to Gausium, which says as of its March 2026 release that it serves more than 6,500 customers in 70 plus countries. A large customer base tells you about reach, not about how one robot performs in your corridor.

What data should a managed fleet hand back to you?

SBRA's SoftBank Robotics Connect platform tracks cleaning metrics for its robots. Ask for these fields in every service report, and insist they come as a downloadable record, not only as a dashboard you view on request.

  • Planned versus actual run time for each unit
  • Coverage area cleaned per shift
  • Share of run time in autonomous mode versus assisted mode

Where a single provider bundle fits, and where it narrows your choices

A bundle is simpler to manage. You get one contact, one service path and one party to hold to a deployment schedule. For a multibuilding operator with a common floor type, that consolidation can be worth more than a few points of cleaning performance.

The tradeoff is dependence. When one provider controls the hardware line, the integration and the service, a retired model or a slow parts response lands on you alone. Ask which models are guaranteed for the full term and what happens if one leaves the lineup.

Service Robot Co. approaches the same problem from the other side. We are an OEM neutral integrator, so we compare robots across manufacturers for each site, then deploy, integrate, train and service every unit through a nationwide US engineer network. Customers get one partner and one point of contact, and they access robots through a lease running three years, with one fixed payment quoted after a site assessment. Where one maker's line fits the floor, we will say so. Where a different mix fits better, we will say that too.
