A clean building that still had to show its care

A UK high-street bank campus was consolidating about 2,500 staff from three locations into one new campus. The building was already clean, so the job was not catching up on dirt. The bank's priority was cleaning that staff could see as they arrived at the new site.

Floor vacuuming was done on ride-on machines, and that work absorbed hours the cleaning team could put to other tasks. The team needed those hours for other work, and the bank wanted the upkeep to be visible to the people using the building.

Cleaning cobots take the vacuuming, in view of everyone

The campus moved its floor vacuuming to autonomous cleaning cobots. The robots worked the floors where staff could see them, and the cleaning team gave each cobot a name.

Because the cobots were operating on the floor, they drew staff attention and made the cleaning work more visible to the people using the building. That visibility matched what the bank had prioritized, and the ride-on hours released were kept for other cleaning work.

The headline result is 26 hours of ride-on vacuuming freed per week for the cleaning team. Those hours went back to the team for other work.

The cobots also made the floor work visible. Staff saw autonomous machines cleaning the campus as they went about their day, which matched the bank's aim for the new site.

These results are as reported by the service provider that ran the project. The provider has a commercial interest in presenting its work well, so read the 26-hour figure as its reported outcome, and treat it as a UK result rather than a benchmark for US sites.

What a US operator can take from a UK campus

This is a UK deployment we analyze, not one Service Robot Co. ran. Its lesson for a US operator is about sequence: match the robot to the floor, assess the site, put the machines to work, train the people around them, and keep them serviced.

Service Robot Co. is a vendor neutral robot integrator for US businesses. We select robots across manufacturers, finance them through a lease, handle deployment and integration, train staff, and service every unit through a nationwide US engineer network. One partner covers the whole lifecycle, which is what commercial robot leasing should look like.

Our offer is a 3-year lease with one fixed payment, quoted after a site assessment. A facility can start with one leased unit, see how it performs on its floors, and widen the fleet only if the results justify it.

Frequently asked questions

At this UK campus, the service provider reports 26 hours of ride-on vacuuming freed per week for the cleaning team. Results depend on floor area, layout, and how the cleaning schedule is set up. A site assessment is the practical way to estimate what a specific building would gain.
