Golf courses researching robotic mowers often start with four names: FireFly, ECHO, Husqvarna CEORA and Toro. This page says who each company is and links each one’s own public pages. It does not rank anyone. Service Robot Co. picks the right machine for your course, so talk to us before you choose.

Who is FireFly?

An autonomous reel mower seen from the front on a fairway

FireFly is a Utah company, founded in 2010 per Golf Course Industry. Its site says FireFly Automatix is now FireFly Robotics. It makes the AMP, an all-electric autonomous reel mower: the AMP-L100 is a 100-inch, 5-gang unit.

Its site lists a 2026 Innovator Award from the Sports Field Management Association, and a registration statement filed October 7, 2026 for a proposed direct listing on Nasdaq as FFLY.

Golf Course Industry reported a four-mower AMP fleet mowing the fairways at the 2024 Black Desert Championship, a PGA Tour event.

In its registration statement, FireFly lists this among its risk factors: “There is substantial doubt about our ability to continue as a going concern, and we will need additional financing to execute our business plan, to fund our operations and to continue as a going concern.” This is a quote from the filing, not our view, and not investment advice. Who is ECHO?

ECHO is better known for outdoor power equipment, and its robotic mower line is ECHO Robotics. ECHO USA’s navigation lists chainsaws, blowers and trimmers next to its robotic mowers.

For turf, its pages describe the TM-2050, a GPS-RTK autonomous mower that returns to its charging station on its own and is aimed at golf courses, sports fields and parks.

Who makes the Husqvarna CEORA?

Husqvarna is a long-running maker of outdoor power products. Its site says it has provided autonomous mowing technology since 1995. CEORA is a product line of Husqvarna, not a separate company.

Husqvarna’s golf page says CEORA is for large-area mowing, and its Automower line covers smaller, steeper and more complex areas.

The USGA’s April 2025 article on robot mowers covers a European research project that used Husqvarna robotic mowers, funded by STERF and Husqvarna.

Who is Toro?

The Toro Company is a long-established maker of turf equipment. Its autonomous page cites over 100 years of experience in golf course maintenance.

Toro names the Greensmaster eTriFlex 3360 with GeoLink Mow for fairway mowing, and the Turf Pro autonomous mower for rough. Golf Course Industry reported in February 2022 that Toro began field testing its autonomous fairway mower with select sites.

Toro’s autonomous page says: “Our goal is not to replace labor with autonomous products, but to allow staff to focus where they’re needed most.” Read the filing
