Service Robot Co. helps cemeteries decide where a robotic mower belongs, then leases it on a three-year term, deploys it, trains your crew and services it. Robots take the open lawn between sections so your team can trim and care for headstones. Support is 24/7 with 10-minute specialist triage.

Who decides on cemetery mowing?

Cemetery superintendents, sextons and the boards or councils above them. Respect for the grounds comes first in any plan.

Superintendents and sextons
They know every section. Modern Public Fleet reports Taylor’s city cemetery approved two autonomous mowers.
Short-staffed crews
A Petersburg safety coordinator told WTVR "we are short staffed, it’s hard to get people to come cut grass."
Private and funeral-operator cemeteries
An American Cemetery and Cremation survey reports 84.8% rate rising maintenance costs as important or higher, and nearly 70% flag hiring.
Contractor-run grounds
Many cemeteries use a grounds contractor. The contractor can hold the lease and we train their crew.

Which parts of a cemetery should stay manual?

The robot takes

  • Open lawn between sections with no upright markers
  • Roadsides, paths and wide borders inside the grounds
  • Early-morning passes before visitors and services

The crew keeps

  • The ground right around upright headstones
  • Flat markers, plots and areas near graves being prepared
  • Slopes too steep for the machine
  • Anything during or near a service

How close can it get to headstones?

Published specs set a distance, and public reports say plainly where robots stop.

Which cemeteries have used robot mowers?

Reports from the cemeteries and local press. None are our customers and we were not involved.

What does Service Robot Co. do?

We pick the right machine for your properties, put it on a 3-year lease with a $1 buyout at the end, deploy it, train your crew, and service it.

For cemeteries we map the open lawn by section, agree keep-out distances with the superintendent, and add tracking and geofencing to the plan from day one.

Where does it not fit in cemeteries?

Plain limits first. A cemetery is not a sports field.

  • Around upright markers

Robots keep a set distance. A person trims what is left. That is what the crew keeps.

  • Steep or crowded sections

The Shetland Times reports a council trial worked on some graveyards and not on sloped sites.

  • Anything near a service

Mowing is scheduled around burials and visitors, not through them.

Common questions

Not closely. Published specs and public reports keep mowers 6 to 12 in. or more from upright markers, and Rosehill-Elmwood says robots cannot cut closely around them. A person trims the rest.
